Well, here’s what I learned about Mass COmmunications in the form of a Sample Resume!

Microphone

Mass Communications is one of the most interesting careers
a person could have. Oh yes! According to me, charismaallover.
Why? Because I’m a writer and I like to communicate in many
different aspects as you can see. I’m always trying to
get a message out. There’s so many careers in the world I would never
do and one that would make my day to get involved in–Mass
Communications.

I was talking with my brother. He’s always checking up on me.
He was asking me did I know that there are people with college
degrees not able to get into their field of study? I said why?
He replied ” Sometimes a degree is not enough. You have
to have additional skills”. Well, I guess they don’t want
to make it easy on people. They don’t want people
to just think that they can just get skills in one
aspect. I’m always thinking about the topics
that are helpful, entertaining and information.
But back to my brother, he suggested I look
up sample career resumes.

So I looked up the Mass COmmunications Resume

The sample resume showed a high gpa for the major and
that the person was in the Public Relations Student Society
of AMerica.

THey had achieved a 4th year level of Spanish conversation
and literature knowledge.

I was told that knowing a foreign language really helps when you
want to get hired for a job.

They created their own personal website.
They created a brochure for a well known organization.
THen they interviewed people, wrote a copy of
the organization key concepts of fun, diversity
and communication.

Producing fliers, posters, newspaper ads, annual brochures
for campus wide distribution was on the list of things this
person did. This person publicized monthly social and
educational meetings.

This person talked about awards, rewards they received.

Skills listed was adobe photoshop, quarkexpress, html,
Excel, Powerpoint, Word.

Digital 35 mm, video photography

Associated Press style, proofreading,
editing text from multiple contributors into whole

A Good amount of spoken and written Spanish

Well, I see what this person has for extra skills. Me personally, I want
to obtain those same skills. I only know a little of MS Word, Powerpoint,
Excel, it’s all basic. I would like to learn more. I myself know high school
Spanish and College French. The college I would like to attend has
a 4th level of French and Spanish. I’ve always wondered how could
I be fluent in those languages. But anyone looking to learn foreign
languages can get easy translation from http://www.babelfish.com/
They have multiple languages, more than Spanish and French.

Lionel Hampton, a Black musician who rubbed elbows with another black musician named Louis Armstrong!

Lionel Hampton, a Black musician who rubbed elbows with another black musician named Louis Armstrong!

<img src=”http://inlinethumb33.webshots.com

Music is perfect for calming people and
relaxing in general. But we should all hear
great songs and find out who is behind them.
That way we can have a music collection.
I know it may have happened that some people
heard a song on the radio and could not
find out the song title or artist. That’s
really really hard with jazz because
at least you can type the words in online
and find the song and artist. But
I would like to introduce you all
to this Black musician.

Lionel Hampton is a Black man who is known for being
a musician. He was titled as one of the extraordinary
musicians of the 20th century. Born April 20, 1908,
he was just like his father, all wrapped up in the
music industry. His father was a singer and pianist,
so music is in his bloodline. His sister gave him
drum lessons.

When Lionel attended St. Monica’s School in
Chicago, Lionel got a job selling papers
so he could join Chicago Defender’s Newsboys
Band. To start, Lionel began with the bass drum.
After a while, he moved up to the snare drum.

During his time in high school, he got a job
in a teenage band. At 15, he had already
graduated high school. He later left for
Los Angeles to join Reb Spike’s Sharps and
Flats.

Lionel got a big opportunity to play with Paul
Howard’s Quality Serenaders and a new band
emerged by Hite, which is the same person
who supported Louis Armstrong at the Cotton
Club.

Hampton recorded a session with Armstrong.
During a break he got, Hampton went to
the vibraphone and began playing the vibes
on one song. The song came to him just right
and was a hit. Hampton brought a refreshing
and renewed voice to jazz and he got the
title “King of the Vibes”.

Benny Goodman was impressed and wanted
Hampton to record with him.

Hampton’s wife Gladys took on the role as
being responsible for raising money for
Lionel to start his own band.

He founded the Lionel Hampton Orchestra
full of energy, bright showmanship and top
notch jazz musicianship. “Sunny Side of the
Street”, “Central Avenue Breakdown”, “Flying
Home”, and “Hamp’s Boogie-Woogie” all
became the high in rank best sellers when
released.

This Black man by the name of Lionel Hampton was
a composer and arranger. Lionel wrote over 200 works
which involves Flying Home, Evil Gal Blues, and Midnight Sun.
Also, he composed the King of the Suite.

That, President from long time ago, President Einsenhower asked
Hampton to be a goodwill ambassador for America. Then
Hampton got the chance to tour Europe, Africa, the Middle
East, and the Far East.

And much honor goes to him for all his acheivements
and the fact that there is a school named after
him called the Lionel Hampton School of Music.
Lionel, always found himself achieving cause there is
more. He made his own publishing company, and
he built up the Lionel Hampton Development Corporation
to build low income housing in inner cities.

Lionel passed away but left a beautiful collage
of acheivements in the world and in all places
that has his research information. The Lionel
Hampton Center is a $60 million project that
is the home for jazz housing the university’s
Jazz Festival, it’s School of Music, and its
International Jazz Collections which teach
and preserve jazz. Sounds like somebody
worth meeting, don’t you think?. I wish he was here, but
he is passed.

The Black Royalty Exposed, a book about Black Greek Organizations like delta signma theta, kappa alpha psi, and more!

Alpha Kappa Alpha

Well, most people heard of the

Black Greek Organizations. I’ve never

been in one, but I wonder what it’s like.

I need to do research on them and I plan

to.

But now for the book “The Black Royalty

Exposed”. This book gives the true secrets

and unauthorized histories of the Black

Green Organizations. So whether you are

in the Black Greek Organizations or

have not been you have this wonderful

book to inform you.

So the book tells the book

tells secrets about hand grips,

identification, and recognition tests.

It goes on to talk about histories,

origins and mysteries of alpha kappa

alpha, omega psi phi, delta sigma

theta, kappa alpha psi, alpha phi

alpha, zeta phi Beta, phi beta sigma,

sigma gamma rho and iota phi theta.

You get the inside details in a 320 page

book. They even urge people to get the

book before it becomes censored.

The book is NOT sold in stores.

I never really thought about

the secrets to the Black Greek Organizations,

but books like this make you think about

things you might not think about. Titles of

books as well as books encourage people to

think deeper. Take one thought and branch

off into another thought. “Reading is like

planting a seed, and you grow in knowlegde

indeed.” That’s the quote I just came up

with in the moment.

But anyways, here is the source:

First African American Owned Private Swim Club began 1958 (still existing today)

First African American Owned Private Swim Club began 1958 (still existing today)

                Clear water & Red Rock

THe Nile Swim Club is the nation’s first African American owned

private swim club. THey have announced that it has launched

a whopping $5 million expansion program involving other

amenities like the construction of 3 heated pools, an 18-hole miniature

golf course, a 150 seat banquet facility, and a fitness center as

well as basketball and tennis courts. (Wow! That’s really diverse.

That’s very convenient for those who want to add

other sports to their resume. So its like the perfect setup,

getting more access to sports at one place. Bravo Brilliant!)

The swim club is located in Pennsylvania and began

1958, a time era when Black people were denied admission

and membership ot the racilly exclusive and currently

defunct, Yeadon Swim Club.

( Well, definitely The Yeadon Swim Club is too shame.

They went on and started their own club because they

don’t need The Yeadon Swim Club. They still made it, but ofcourse.)

THe swim club’s opening was a very important story

of African American economic self-determination and

attracted alot of media coverage and got Harry Belafonte

and Motown’s Supremes to notice them.

Today, the club owns a 4.5 acre parcel of land and

has a membership of 210 families. The new faculty is being

designed by Buell Kratzer Powell LTD and Synterra LTD,

a African American owned landscape design firm. The facility

is planned to be complete in 2008.

The First Black Marines……A tribute to these black men

The First Black Marines……A tribute to these black men

20333499_400x400

Who are these people who made a better world? Well I’m going to start
off discussing some African American men who shape the world.
         Number 1:

African American, Edgar R. Huff joined the Marine Corps in June of 1942.
He underwent training at the Montford Point Camp.
Huff came at a time when Montford Point
operation really really needed forceful and intelligent
African Americans whether they had military
experience or not. He made Platoon Seargeant
in September of 1943, Gunnery Sergeant in November
of that same year.

 Number 2:
Frederick C. Branch, was chosen to attend the
Navy’s V-12 program at Purdue University where he
made Dean’s List. Branch became the First
Black Commissioned Officer in Marine Corps
History on November 10, 1945. Look up Montford Point
Marine Hall of Fame and you are guaranteed to see
Frederick C. Branch there!
                                       Number 3:
Next up is African American Major Gilbert H. Harshman
Johnson. The way he got his nickname “Harshmark” is
from his sleeve. His Marine Corps unifrom sleeve has 3yr
hitches with a black regiment, the 25th infantry.
Johnson’s infantry experience involved him being a company clerk,
mortar gunner, and squad leader. He went from assistant
drill instructor to drill instructor. (See how you move up
from one level in life to another. That’s something to
be excited about.) That’s some of the Black Marines, there’s
plenty more observed and discussed online.

The Congressional Black Caucus helped black people get to vote (starting in the 1960s) My favorite Caucus

The Congressional Black Caucus helped black people get to vote (starting in the 1960s) My favorite Caucus

Hudson County Court House

What era was known to help what? What day? What time?
The Congressional  Black Caucus goes back in history to

the important civil rights victories in the 1960s era. AMong these
victories was the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which made it
against the law to deny African Americans to vote. (It’s
very important to vote and use your voice for
positive change. The voices add up. The more
people the better.Protest, free speech, it’s all good.)
The  Congressional Black Caucus continues to be a supporter
for African-Americans and other underrepresented people.
Their efforts to cause positive change in domestic and
international policy have helped to keep
the concerns of the Black community at the
top of US policy.
      Individual members have sponsored and
passed many bills that have been enforced
into law. The Congressional Black Caucus
has informed and sponsored legislation on
many issues such as voting rights, employment,
education, health care, and foreign policy.
( It’s the greatest congress- Congressional
Black Caucus)
            The Congressional Black Caucus
has made their legislative agenda known to both
the White House and Congress as well.
Members of the Congressional Black Caucus
have been able to take black political interests
to another level in America for more than
35 years.
