Chubby Checker bombarding the stage with the dance he invented ,”The twist”!!

Chubby Checker? Catchy name right? You bet. Well, he
was just as catchy as his name. A name like his is
memorable enough to sell records quick. He would
perform on Philadelphia. He was in a famous ad for Oreo
Cookies.

Born October 3, 1941, he took on jobs like shining
shoes, selling ice and assisting in a butcher’s shop.
His heroes? Only the top best like Fats Domino,
Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley made his list.
He performed in church and on the streets in his
singing group, the Quantrells.

The music executives were running to get to him
like people running through Walmart like people
who found out about a 50% discount on laptops.
He signed with Cameo Parkway Records in 1959.
He even came up with a song called “The Twist” .
Also, He was labeled “King of the twist.” What
a calling! Not only that folks, he INVENTED
the dance the Twist. Let’s get down with him.

The twist, as a a dance movement revolutionized
popular culture, giving a smooth transitioning
for couples to break up on the dance floor.

He makes me want to try! Amazing! Count on
Chubby Checkers to zoom into action. Vocal
cords that speak volumes and the feet that
keep the beat…What an amazing man! High
five on his kind of talent.

Bill Bojangles, a black man who could run 75 yards in 8.2 seconds, a tap dancing legend!1

Bill Bojangles, a black man who could run 75 yards in 8.2 seconds, a tap dancing legend!1

Do you like to tap? Can you tap dance circles around competition? Professionals do this. Anyways, I’m drawing in inspirations for tap dance right up our alley, right here in our black race. We all here about what Europeans do. That’s routine. What do our black people do?

Lets learn about what our black people do. It never gets boring.
Shuffle and tap? Does it sound familiar? Well, a black man who goes
by the name of Bill “Bojangles” Robinson created some of those moves.
He was a resident of Richmond, Virginia. One of his big to do dances
was the stair dance.

Yet when he was little, he went to the oddest
place to perform.Robinson performed at local
Beer gardens at age 6. By the time he was eight,
he was dancing for pennies. He was taking over
the show “vaudeville” which Includes dancers,
singers, comedians, and actors. When he became
a young adult, he got the most out of his money
dancing in vaudeville circuit and
nightclubs.
And who was he dancing near? Shirley
Temple ofcourse. This man jumped into the scene, completing
fourteen films. He was tapping his sweet rhythms through
the scene with Lena Horne in her African American production,
Stormy Weather.

By the time he was 61, he was still dancing all peppy
(energetic) down the street of broadway. Yes, people,
take a closer look at Bill Robinson, or Bojangles,
Just like the restaurant Bojangles. Ofcourse this
star was copied. The best always are.

His dancing skills give a patina of quality to the
other white acts. He was simply better. Yet as humble
as can be, he never decided not to appear at an event
with less successful people. With his great adaptability,
he was doing different shows in different locations.

That’s right, keeping his talent alive and making
big steps in life. He never gave up. And when I said tap dance
circles around people, the man was tapping dancing in circles on
those steps. You can see that in the youtube video above.

And we must highlight something else.
We are all so familiar with running forwards, but Robinson,
could run backwards, 75 yards in 8.2 seconds.

song but music is powerful in general.

-Having a Job Across the Street from Where you live

-Graduating College early

-Starting hobbies early like ballet, tap dance, gymnastics,
professional roller skating..I wish I would have started all
these early…Now I do none of them.

-Having a short labor

-Having a hairdresser for a mom

-Getting hired for a job on the spot

-Learning from someone else’s mistake to avoid yours

-Having a 4.0 gpa

-Having a house with a sidedoor and a front door, and
even a back door…..I used to live in a duplex
with only one door. Me and mom thought this was a
fire hazard. Now we got a sidedoor and front door.
We have a mail slot, garage, fencing, windows in bathrooms,
We have the sliding doors, sliding windows, well sealed
toilet..God is great!

-Being a nutritionist

-Long hair instead of short hair because you can style it
with more versatility. I will find that blog but someone said
that they only wash and condition their hair once a month
and let it stay it braids and their hair grew to their waist.

-Attending college because mom gets paid for me to go
to college.

-Staying off campus, because it’s too much work living in a
dorm

-Doing your own hair, it’s costly to have others do it.
THe easiest hair to do is long hair.

-Splurge days, having 2 days where you can eat like
crazy and not feel guilty about it. It works for me.
Does it work for others? It works for me because
I excercise (boxing) for an hour and sometimes
a little over. I eat light through the week though.
I eat multiple fruits then I eat a regular meal.
This is to maintain it. WHen I was losing weight
I was eating meatloaf and a salad and oh my
goodness, the taste both blend together in
harmony.

-Knowing foreign languages because you get hired
quicker and if someone is talking in secret by
using a non English language you can catch
what they are saying..

-Being an adult, because you understand life better.
When you are a kid, you walk the world confused.

-Having a job with benefits. Where did they go?
Seriously!!

-Attending college in the city you live in…

-Knowing who you deal with right away, if you
had a superpower to scan someone’s personality
and actions to see how they would respond
to different situations….But then God is
always great at that, great at everything!

-Getting a new hairstyle every week. Then people
wonder what they will see next. I make the greatest
effort to do it.

-You’ve already graduated. I have a blessed cousin
who graduate college. I only graduated high school
which is a blessing as well…but graduating college
is the ultimate.

-You can balance college and a social life without
slipping up.

-You are a math genius…it seems like once math
is tackled, what else is hard in school?

-Timers, so if you forget to do something that bell
will remind you.

- Hats/scarves so if your hair is not exactly like you
want it, you can design it with those. I’ve done it
at times, but most of the time I’m showing off my
hair. I feel like it’s less baggage when it’s all me.

-Having a full ride scholarship

-Being Black, it’s the most beautiful race, more
youthful. I am so proud to be.

-Save the best for last, a Life with GOD in it…

The first tv show with an all black cast is…!

The First Television Series with an all black cast- Amos n Andy Show

32" Monitor Stand Portable Pop Up Flatscreen TV Kiosk

Well isn’t it a miracle when we see black tv shows? It is because it’s
not enough. I’m impressed with Tyler Perry’s tv shows “House of Payne”.

I was watching it on tv, now I will start watching it
on cable now tha I’m on college break. They say unity
is power, especially black unity. Therefore black tv shows
are powerful. It’s the best when our peoplework together.
Well now, I just want to point out a black tv show
way way back in hiosty.

It was a show that was the direct descendent of
the radio show that beganon WMAQ. It has the ultimate achievement of being the longest running radio program
in broadcast history. It was created and put
into action by Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll.
Two white actorsdecided to take on the roles of
Amos Jones and Andy Brown by speaking an
African AMerican dialect.

THe importance of Amos n Andy is that it has
a 30 year history as the most abundantly
successful radio show. The show had its
short contentious years on network television
and its termination from prime-time and
subsequent years in syndication. The media
stills debates the position of Amos n Andy
show in television history. This is shown
by media scholars in the most up to date
books on cultural history of American television.

Amos n’ Andy was first shown on CBS television
in June 1951. This showcontinued until two
years before the program was terminated .
This happened even while black community
protested in 1953. What stands out even
more about its role in black history is that
it was the first television series with an
all black cast.

The characters had a diversity of roles.

Andy Brown- was a business associate

Kingfish Stevens- was known for being
a scheming smoothie.

Lawyer Calhoun- took on the role of the
underhanded crook that no one
could trust.

Lightnin- is one of the characters known
for being a slow moving janitor.

Sapphire Stevens- is a nosey loud mouth.

Mama- was a bossy mother in law.

Then there is the Madame Queen.

The characters were truly stereotypical.
Think about how Hollywood portrays
black characters in a “Stereotyped”
manner. It’s not as if we should be
robots to bad deeds. We are people
and deserve to have many roles. This
show was very insulting because of
the stupid pathetic blackface and
minstrelsy they created in our honor.

It gave us experience but in a negative light.
And what they wanted to use as negative is
a future positive. Lookat all the African American
entertainers doing positive things. Yet,there
are positive roles in media like Keke Palmer in that
movie where she wins the spelling bee. I only saw
the previews butone day I will see the whole movie.

The television portion of Amos n Andy
was almost equivalent to the popularity
of the radio version. I never really researched
the Amos n Andy show and never knew that
that’s where they got blackface from.

Media historian Donald Bogel states
“Neither CBS nor the programs creators
were ready for the change in national
temperament after the World War II…
Within black America, a new political
consciousness and a new awareness
of the importance of image had shown.

Though hardly void of the cruel
insults and disparaging imagery of the past,
Hollywood of the World War II
era chauffered in a selection of better
roles and positive images for
African American performers in Hollywood.

American motion pictures showed off the
first glimpses of black soliders fighting side
by side with white comrades. African American
entertainers appeared in sequined gowns
and tuxedos instead of bandannas and
calico dresses. Black character had become
upgraded, starring as lawyers, teachers and
contributing members of society.”

And guess what though? We did a lot more
positive things besides entertainment.
Keep reading my blog and you will learn a lot of lessons
in due time.

<IMG BORDER=”0″ ALIGN=”Left” SRC=”African Queen Style Church Hat“>US Black Women love our hats, especially the older church ladies in their 40s and 50s and above. It is a tradition of my Black elders. So one of my black elders
would not dare go to church without that perfect hat, at least most. It has
been an expression for women of all ages in the black race.

My Faux Hawk

We all know about the expertise of Our Black people in braiding hair, looks, fashion, talent, invention
and everything you could think
of that’s professional and great.
I would like to particularly point out
such creative designs in cornrows.
          What’s great about people who
are hair stylist is that they make good money. That’s money everyday for them. Lord knows that having money everyday is the best way to live. Waiting a week or 2 weeks to get a check is slow.
But being a licensed hair professional is the glamorous life. Even if a person has hair skills but no license, that’s good to have. Getting hair done is on the most popular list. Cornrows allows for a long list of styles. How many ways can hair be done with
cornrows? Take a look. You can have fun with them.

(Yes, the Egyptians are Black like me, because they are the real Egyptians)

What I enjoy about this video is that it is all TRUTH. ALL over , fromevery angle.

This Black man tells it exactly how it is.  I was already thinking why do WHITES claim

Egypt? Black people are the only ones responsible for the creation of Egypt.

I was thinking all along that whites would never take time to create a sculpture

that looks like somebody black. You should even  see how the noses of

Black statues have been chiseled off. Oh, I saw the pictures. But more than

that, there are plenty of reasons why Egyptians are black like the melanin

dosage tests and many other facts found in the book “Blacked Out through

Whitewash”.  He talks about the Black Egyptians as wearing wigs.

He talks about how WHITES like to HIDE Black culture.

black

I love my BLACK people, that’s for sure.

The most beautiful,inventive, smart people

of the world who are so so GReat at everything

are Black people. I would now like to talk

about Sista Souljah’s video “THe Hate that

Hate produced”.

IN that video,They have a little meeting before

Sista Souljah starts rapping her music.

By 00:33, Sista Souljah starts rapping

lyrics.

Strong and confident as ever.

Sista Souljah does not hold back. She

expresses herself with so much dignity.

Her Black Pride is so strong, it

would scare RACIST whites. Sista Souljah

is my rolemodel. She saids she is African

first, Black first, and if her survival

means white destruction, then it will be

it. She talks about she is not here to

make WHITES comfortable in their

Stupid White supremacy.

My comments:

She takes

their white supremacy attitude and snaps

it in half like a pencil. I know

white RACISTS feel their ego go low

like the temperature of coldest weather.
She says

speak with authority and conviction.

My comments:

She is so so right, tell those whites

like it is. This is not their world.

Black people made this world, whites

live in it with us. They live off
the Black creations,inventions.

White supremacy

is just a mask for them feeling inferior,

that’s why whites use racist terms and

do racist things. That’s what

is said in the book “Blacked

Out through whitewash” It makes sense because

jealous people love to hate. They see

Black royalty and they FEAR It.
