A variety of chairs and desks

Imagine a house with no furniture! It’s kinda half empty.
We need it to be comfortable at all times. Sometimes ,I myself,
have slept on the floor and it was more comfortable than
a bed. It wasn’t hard wooden floor and it had carpet.
But when you want to drift off in your living room, the most
ideal piece of furniture to sleep on is a couch right? Home should be
a place of rest and tranquility (peace). So what kinda
furniture do you want? Lazyboy? Couch? Whatever it is, get
it and make your house a part of your personality. Since,
we’re on the topic of furniture, I had to point out a
remarkable person whose invention deals with furniture.

Vanity set

David Fisher, a black inventor,created
a device that holds furniture parts together. His device
came in handy because originally, a worker had to work in slow steps,
pausing at different times to combine pieces of wood together
so one could bind them. Fisher fixed the delay in the process
by coming up with the joiner’s clamp, which he patented
on April 20, 1875.

Kitchen Furniture

The joiner’s clamp involved two pieces of wood attached
by two screws. When they were tightened, the screws pushed
the pieces of wood together. He used this device to hold
furniture parts in place as they were glued. Therefore, the
worker didn’t have to continue assembling them. By using
applied, balance pressure, the joiner’s clamp caused
the wood to come together at a faster pace and stronger than
usual.

White and red furniture

Another struggle in the furniture business was workers
in the furniture industry having to move heavy pieces of
furniture. Also, they had to be safe in the process.
They worried about dropping furniture and destroying other
items in the room by bumping into them. So, on March 14,
1876, Fisher patented the furniture caster. This complex
device was a free turning wheel that allows heavy items
to move around a room on rollers, safely and efficiently
as well. This allowed one person to move large pieces of
furniture, which let other workers be able to take care of other
items. This device is found throughout every industry as
well as homes all around.

Glass Table and chairs

Now, thanks to David Fisher, you can lay peacefully
and rested. You can have exotic colors, light colors,
or blend dark and light colors. Some people have to have
furniture in order to be comfortable or they’ll feel a sense of
unrest. The goal, though, is to get you rested. I think
of it like this “A restless mind or body can slow down
the day”. I’m also looking for convenience in things
because life doesn’t have to be so difficult. There
are times where we can curtail things or speed it up
and make it more effective. Let’s be inventive and
stay inventive. Fisher is a true asset to the furniture
industry, especially home owners and those who rent their
homes.

I will leave you all with this “A great invention
is like a great meal, digest it and put it to
great use”.

Without the internet, we would be set ages behind. It has
helped us to stay ahead news-wise and weather-wise. I just cannot get enough internet. I thank God for the internet
and the person who created it. I have found people through
the internet and talked to businessmen and women through
the internet about their product and services that I
advertise on my blog. The internet is a convenient networking experience, not a substitute for networking in person, but it’s great to network online.

While we are on the topic on internet, I might as well introduce you to an internet specialist.

Emmit J. MCHenry is titled, the founder, chairman
and CEO of NetCom Solutions International Inc. His company
is Enterprise Magazine’s 10th ranked African American owned
business.

He attended Stewart Elementary School and Booker T. Washington
High School. Just an observation, but the man is very acute. He
has worked in management positions with IBM, Connecticut General, Union Mutal, and AllState Insurance Company.

He served on numerous insurance industry committees and was
founding member of the American Productivty Management
Association. Then was it, that he founded Network Solutions
Inc, which is the internet domain services provider.

In 1995, he founded NetCom Solutions International, a quadruple company with telecommunications, engineering, consulting, and technical services. The company has been honored with awards for excellent service from IBM, Nasa and Lucent Technologies with revenues of $260 million and exceeding 200 employees in Virginia and Oklahoma City.

He goes even further.MCHenry is also the chairman of Visutel,
a broadband telecommunications company. MCHenry is also on the executive committee of the Council on Competitiveness, the
board of directors for NetCom Solutions International, LTD
and chairs the governance committee for the Phelps Stokes
Fund.

And it continues even further. Emmit McHenry is on the advisory board of DECIS Technology and is the former chairman of the board of LearnCity Inc. MCHenry also served on the Fairfax County Economic Development AUthority, the State of Virginia Economic Development Authority and the board of directors for James Martin Government Intelligence. In addition, he chaired the board of directors of NEtCom Solutions South Africa.

So I definitely am grateful for people like him. I would love
to meet this man. I appreciate his versatility and just had to let the light shine on him. A man like that is worth displaying
and I just had to discuss him. We all know that in order to
succeed like this man, we have to be faithful and committed
to hardwork and success. I’m in awe of such innovativeness.

He has put on performances with the top names in Jazz like in
Count Basie’s big band and has been linked to Duke Ellington.
He took part of Ellington suites and built his laboring
reputation on his multi-labeled range of styles.

He has soared to new heights and performed in New York studios and was a staff member of NBC. You might have been fortunate enough to see him on the Tonight Show. This is the show that gave him his big break because his mumbling scat singing went global.

He has taken on the flugelhorn with a full ringing tone, leaving
a sensation in the ear and providing a peaceful ambiance (or surrounding) in the air.

And I can’t leave out the fact that he does studio work and teach at jazz workshops. And guess what else? He was a leader
at the BIG BAD BAND! More minors need to find a hobby and
look to jazz greats like him or something soothing inspiration like this man. Jazz is serene like the waterfalls. Jazz is pure like the purified water. Jazz is the BIG BANG!

Now,are you ready for something fast paced, fast beat? The man
can work his instrument or his trumpet tool and his mouth.
His type of singing is a deep talented scanting embedded into his soul. Soulful? He is soulful all the way through. Just open your eyes and ears and give him your full attention.
Thanks for reading! Questions? Opinions? Experiences with
him? Have you met him or seen him on tv? Let me know.

Thanks for reading! Have a bless day! Scant it up!

Have you ever been up close with a person whose very
much into architecture? Meet Archie Alexander, a black
man known for his prolific structures. Alexander is one
of those successful engineers. He has led the way with
his company. Through his company, he has constructed
more than 300 major construction projects in America
such as several bridges, dams, and road ways. These
roadways include K Street highway and Tidal Basin
Bridge in Washington DC.

People around the world see buildings. Yet, Archie
Alexander is constructing buildings of value that
are being used.

The world needs to create more architects. They will
certainly be the most mathematically precise and definitely
entertain folks and give us places to jump up and run
to.

When there are empty buildings, the world is half
empty. And why should it be? Alexander is the
exact opposite of emptiness. He is there to FILL
a role and FILL in those spots the world needs
filling at. Alexander is a leader and builder.
With him in charge, the world can have more
grandiose contributions. We as a people need
to voice our opinions on this. Alexander deserves
much applause for his efforts.

Don’t let another black person go unnoticed for their
work. If you have a mouth to speak with, you need
to brag! Thank you lots! Questions? Comments?

Dr Isaac Horton is doing something better than your average male.
What’s that you ask? Well, He is a black man with 25 years of background
in technology, patents, international business and finance. Due to his adroit
nature as a pharmaceutical drug designer for Dupont Company, he has a
reputation as a scientist and entrepreneur. Hear
that again people! He works for legal drugs, that are scientifically designed to help
people, not the raw drugs that keep people intoxicated.
This man takes the title of Chairman and Ceo of Remote Light INc,a
company who’s purpose is to use light to disinfect air, water, and other liquids.
His company has distributed over 140 patents, which is really saying something about
how hard they are doing with this. And where can you see Remote Light’s technology? If you go to Disney’s theme parks or even the New York Stock Exchange, Tiffany and Company,
Two NFL half time shows and many more places, you will be in a daze or
in awe rather because that’s the business he so professionally assists.
The Products there, how do they rate? The products are so
hot that they get “Product of the Year “ Award, Application of the Year
Award”, and “Innovator of the Year Award”. This is the equivalent to being
on a winning team that so many people desire to work with. I mean, who
wants to be on a losing team? We are on the team for the betterment of self
and others.
Horton has also added something else to his balancing beam of
achievements. He is the founder and Managing Partner of Scientific
Production Ventures. Scientific Production venues recently built a
Multi-billlion dollar pipeline of utility scale solar power in investment
Opportunities in brownfield, whose role it is so serve as a new business
for Cherokee investment Partners.
Isaac Horton, being the overachiever he is, co founded and is
the Chairman of the Eco Channel. This business is based on energy management.
This allows consumers to reduce their energy up to 20 percent. This is
where the cash savings and monetary value seems to rear its beautiful
head.
Ecointerfacce is conveniently set up so that you, the homeowner don’t
have to present cash up front. Dr. Horton has partnered with companies like
the Quantum Fund George Soros, Consolidated Edison of New York, Progress Energy,
Eight Hedge Funds, The Malaysian Government, Lucky Gold Star,
China Trust of Taiwan and Hong Kong Tobacco. Dr. Horton has such
buying power, he was able to purchase businesses within domestic
And international territory.
Horton was an active community member and has served on a variety
Of boards such as:

1.The Board of Visitors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

2.The Education Committee for the Board of the American Chemical Society

3. The Steering Committee for the Urban Education Intiative of the National
Science Foundatio

4. A National Board Member of the National Organization
Of Black Chemist and Chemical Engineers

5. The Board of Directors and Investment
Committee At Shaw University

6.The Board of Directors of Ravencroft School

7. And the Board of Directors of the Incubator

Well….in response…if more people were like this, this wouldn’t be a druggie
America. They would spend much time doing intellectual stuff and being a
sapient person (smart). As you can see, Horton was an all purpose type
of guy. He is able to divide his time into multiple businesses which helps
him to accomplish more things. Anyone can do this if they be persistent
and stay persistent. That is key. That is main element. More people need
to start doing Big things like this instead of expecting to reach overhead
and get success. More people need to know that hard work is a strain, a
pull of muscle, a sleepless night, but is not a comfortable
little life in a box. Anyways, they need to go back to Nas song I can’ and he is
Referring to people like Dr. Horton. Success like this is delicious like a
desert, strawberry short cake or strawberry cheesecake? No matter
what, It’s all good!

Chubby Checker? Catchy name right? You bet. Well, he
was just as catchy as his name. A name like his is
memorable enough to sell records quick. He would
perform on Philadelphia. He was in a famous ad for Oreo
Cookies.

Born October 3, 1941, he took on jobs like shining
shoes, selling ice and assisting in a butcher’s shop.
His heroes? Only the top best like Fats Domino,
Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley made his list.
He performed in church and on the streets in his
singing group, the Quantrells.

The music executives were running to get to him
like people running through Walmart like people
who found out about a 50% discount on laptops.
He signed with Cameo Parkway Records in 1959.
He even came up with a song called “The Twist” .
Also, He was labeled “King of the twist.” What
a calling! Not only that folks, he INVENTED
the dance the Twist. Let’s get down with him.

The twist, as a a dance movement revolutionized
popular culture, giving a smooth transitioning
for couples to break up on the dance floor.

He makes me want to try! Amazing! Count on
Chubby Checkers to zoom into action. Vocal
cords that speak volumes and the feet that
keep the beat…What an amazing man! High
five on his kind of talent.

Do you like to tap? Can you tap dance circles around competition? Professionals do this. Anyways, I’m drawing in inspirations for tap dance right up our alley, right here in our black race. We all here about what Europeans do. That’s routine. What do our black people do?

Lets learn about what our black people do. It never gets boring.
Shuffle and tap? Does it sound familiar? Well, a black man who goes
by the name of Bill “Bojangles” Robinson created some of those moves.
He was a resident of Richmond, Virginia. One of his big to do dances
was the stair dance.

Yet when he was little, he went to the oddest
place to perform.Robinson performed at local
Beer gardens at age 6. By the time he was eight,
he was dancing for pennies. He was taking over
the show “vaudeville” which Includes dancers,
singers, comedians, and actors. When he became
a young adult, he got the most out of his money
dancing in vaudeville circuit and
nightclubs.
And who was he dancing near? Shirley
Temple ofcourse. This man jumped into the scene, completing
fourteen films. He was tapping his sweet rhythms through
the scene with Lena Horne in her African American production,
Stormy Weather.

By the time he was 61, he was still dancing all peppy
(energetic) down the street of broadway. Yes, people,
take a closer look at Bill Robinson, or Bojangles,
Just like the restaurant Bojangles. Ofcourse this
star was copied. The best always are.

His dancing skills give a patina of quality to the
other white acts. He was simply better. Yet as humble
as can be, he never decided not to appear at an event
with less successful people. With his great adaptability,
he was doing different shows in different locations.

That’s right, keeping his talent alive and making
big steps in life. He never gave up. And when I said tap dance
circles around people, the man was tapping dancing in circles on
those steps. You can see that in the youtube video above.

And we must highlight something else.
We are all so familiar with running forwards, but Robinson,
could run backwards, 75 yards in 8.2 seconds.

How well can you dance? How often do you dance? What type of dance
do you do? For me, I do the Charleston. I do the fosse walks, Jazz runs,
jazz walks, and plie. It’s all for dance class. Jazz dance is so fun,
I’m looking for me. Fortunately, I have the means to do those types
of dance. I’m learning about arm position, foot position, posture, etc.
Yet, I’ve never took a leap into the air.

Well Pearl Primus, is a black woman whose signature dance move is leaping
5 feet in the air. She founded her OWN dance company. Okay, so she
is running the show. She doing it hard like Showtime at the Apollo.Critics
called her moves forceful and controlled. You know, that’s when you put
much energy into what you doing, but not overdo it, or hold back.
Dance is discipline. That’s just what it is.

Her inspiration for dance? Racial issues and black writers.
She got a scholarship from the Julius. Rosenwald Foundation
so she could study dance and release all that emotion and
fuel she had on the inside.

She was drawn to dance based on African stonecutters,
Carribean religious practices, and rural life in American
south.

And it is quite nice to find someone in your own field.
She married a dancer who is also a choreographer.

She got some dance background to back her up:
MA in NEw York University
National Dance Company
PHD in Dance Education

She was the chair of Five COlleges dance consortium.
With her original company Pearl Primus Dance Institute, she
combined African American, Carribean, African dances with
modern and ballet dances. What a blend!

President Bush honored her with the National Medal of
Arts. Bravo to her knockout dancing! I wish I could
dance like that. Somebody help me ha ha ha!

Well, I look at the black race as a very stylish group of people. We do
It big. I know I love fashion. Let’s see how our black people do
It in fashion. The black fashion museum has got my eyes wide open,
Or at least the news about it.

They are showcasing a velvet opera coat that was made with
Special conditions. It was stretched out on archival paper and
Tucked into a person size box that looks just like a coffin. A
Group of Smithsonian curators and restoration experts
Lifted it. They gave it quite the inspection.

The coat came from the 1900s. It was elegantly crafted and
made with sapphire blue velvet, embeeded with soutache
embroidery in the form of a swirling pattern of firm leaves.
The sleeves, made of a trumpet outline are trimmed in fur.

The garment was styled and made by Louvenia Price. Price brought
to life what she is not. She was never an upper class lady.
Price was an ex-slave. Through all that harsh cruelty, she
still had trillion dollar thoughts. She has the mentality and
creativity above what she lived. Many times people associate
slaves with stupidity. This is NOT so. Slaves were the groundwork
for a better day, a better country. They were powerful like
objects that defy gravity in outer space.

For instance, this coat is one of the trasures of garments designed and
Worn by African Americans. Someone donated it to the National
Museum of African American History and Culture. Her name is
Joyce Bailey. Her mother, Lois Lane, established, curated, and
kept this Black Fashion Museum alive and running. It was first
displayed with an unremarkable Harlem
brownstone.

The museum was in NW. It was without a proper heating and cooling
System. She kept her paper records fresh in the
Metal file cabinets, stacked on shelves, and stored
In cardboard boxes. Bailey didn’t want it to got to a research
Center, or private hands, she wanted it to go to another
Museum of high caliber that could understand its significant
Meaning. There’s much African American experience hidden
Away in an attic or basement.

You know how it is? When people decide to do big things,
there are obstacles. There’s a force struggling between
good and bad, I promise there is. But just for getting
her business started is a success. TO the people who
made it, it is a success.

Moral of it? Keep the blackness alive. Keep the pride
alive. Keep our ancestors treasures afloat so we can
easily spot them.
