L’Union-The first BLACK daily Newspaper

              (newspaper from
ON April 30, 1862 – that’s the date the first BLACK dailynewspaper was
established in the South, L’Union New Orleans.The newspaper was an
expression of the African Americans

in Louisiana. L’Union was established and sent out

bi-weekly and tri-weekly. In the past it was published

in the French Language, but it  got published in English

in 1863.

          Dr.  Louis Charles Roudanez was L’Union’s primary

financer and Paul Trevigne was the editor. They were both very important

leaders in Louisiana’s civil rights movements.

            Well it is interesting information that it was published in

a foreign language. Never seen many newspapers like that.
