First Black Woman to go to Space, Give it up for Dr. Mae C. Jemison!!!!

            Wonder about space? Think about space? Been to Space?

Want to go to space? NO matter what the answer, Dr. Mae

Jemison  did big work in space. So I present you Dr. Mae Jemison: 

            Dr. Mae C. Jemison launched into orbit in the space

shuttle Endeavour September 12, 1992. Jemison is the

first black woman to go into space and the city of
Chicago’s first astronaut in US. history.
              Mae attented Standford University and graduated
with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Along with that degree she received a A. B. in  AFrican
and Afro-American studies.  (The African American
Studies Degree is one I am going for. With all my
researching about the topic, I’m going to know it all
about Black History. But I’ll still get more information
about it in school)
                             At Cornell University, she:
  • Completed her medical doctorate. 
  • Was a General Practitioner in Los Angeles with the INA/Ross Loos Medical  Group
  • Was an Area Peace Corps medical officer for Sierra Leone and Liberia in West Africa.
                  Dr. Mae Jemison formed The Jemison
Group INc, a technology design and consulting
company. Projects have involved consulting on the
design and implementation of solar thermal
electricity generation systems for  developing
countries and remote areas and the use
of satellite-based telecommunications to
facilitate health care delivery in West Africa.
          The institute is organizing  a SEEing the Future
(Science, Engineering, and Education) INstitute for
the National Science Foundation. The National
Science Foundation is a project to consider the
role of public funding in science and technology
research in the future.
                   Jemison serves as Bayer Corporation’s national
science literacy advocate.

  1. Her induction into National Women’s Hall of Fame
  2. Selection as one of the People magazines 1993World’s 50 MOst Beautiful People
  3.  Received Johnson Publications Black Achievement Trailblazers Award
  4.  Received The Kilby Science Award
  5. National Medical Association Hall of Fame
  6. Selection as a Montgomery Fellow
  7. Honorary doctorates
  8. Host and technical consultant of the World of Wonder on Disney channel
  9. Appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation
