We don’t hear about james Blakein the media as much as Venus and

Serena Williams. But i”m glad to

have the article about the African

American Tennis player James Blake.

                      James Blake, an African American

man bron in Yonkers, New York. is a

professional tennis player wtih 2 older

half brothers. He graduated Fairfield

University and left sophomore

year to pursue tennis.

Blake made a decision to become

a Tennis player because of his

role model Arthur Ashe spoke to the

Harlem Junior Tennis Program.

Brian Barker is his first coach.

One of his hard times is that he

had scoliosis for years as a teen

and therefore had to wear a back

brace 18 hours a day. He did not

wear it while playing tennis though.

Blake received the title

of Rookie of the Year for the 2000

World Team Tenis season. And other

than tennis, Blake enjoys golf,

basketball, and baseball.

                 What really got him attention

was beating Lleyton Hewitt at the 2001 US
